IMEA Auditions

IMEA presents an opportunity for GBN students to sing with the most talented and dedicated choral students in District 7 and the entire state of Illinois. All students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are eligible.

Interested students must complete THIS FORM.

Students will prepare five repertoire selections for auditions. Students will sing excerpts from these selections. While students must prepare all five songs, the audition excerpts will not be announced until the day of the auditions. These pieces need not be memorized. GBN has purchased the sheet music for these selections for you.

Students will sight-read a short melody.

Students will sing scales: major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor.*

Students will sing triads: major, minor, diminished, augmented.*

* Scales and triads will be in the key of F for sopranos and tenors, the key of Db for altos and basses.

For detailed audition information CLICK HERE.

Students selected for IMEA and/or the state chorus will work with a renowned conductor (Mr. Martin Sirvatka!) on compelling repertoire and perform at the District 7 festival. Students selected for the all-state choir will perform at the IMEA state festival in Peoria in January under the direction of Dr. R. Paul Crabb from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
